No. MicroNotch fits the physical notch on supported MacBooks and uses a compact panel on displays without one, including external monitors.
Yes. Choose all displays, the main display, the built-in screen or an individually named monitor. Follow the active display moves MicroNotch with your work. You can adjust the panel size and its horizontal position on external monitors.
Hover over or click the compact notch, use the menu-bar icon, or press Control–Option–Space. If that shortcut is occupied, MicroNotch tries a fallback and shows the active shortcut in Settings.
Open All tools to browse or search. Pin up to six favourites to put them first in the tool rail. Control–Option–K opens the command palette for tools and common actions.
No. Quick setup explains optional permissions one at a time. Skip the features you don’t need and return through the menu bar or Settings → Privacy.
Use the pin control. A panel opened by clicking or using the keyboard stays open until dismissed. Escape closes an unpinned panel. Hover opening closes after the pointer leaves.
Enable MicroVoice in Settings and download the Phonon-2 model, about 345 MB. Allow Microphone access to record, Input Monitoring for the Fn gesture and Accessibility to insert text into other applications.
The current MicroVoice model supports English.
Hold Fn while speaking and release it to transcribe. Double-tap Fn for hands-free recording, then press it once more to finish. If macOS also starts its own Dictation, review the Dictation shortcut in System Settings → Keyboard.
Yes. Select a connected microphone in MicroVoice settings, including an external microphone or the microphone on a connected camera.
Transcription runs on your Mac, without a cloud transcription service. MicroVoice copies each non-empty transcript to the clipboard, replacing its previous contents, then can paste it into the active app if Accessibility permission is granted. The destination app or clipboard history may retain or sync the text. MicroNotch attempts to remove temporary recordings after transcription.
Open Settings → Code and connect the providers you use. MicroNotch detects supported desktop and CLI installations separately. Some hook-based connections need a new session or turn before events appear.
It depends on the provider and connection. Supported Codex server connections and Claude Code hooks can expose request-specific controls. Other actions open the source application. The Code mode page lists the boundaries for each provider.
It uses your existing supported local sessions. It does not include AI subscriptions or API credits. Supported follow-ups retain the conversation’s existing settings.
Code mode suppresses unrelated MicroNotch alerts, timer sounds and automatic shelf navigation. Background tools keep running. It does not mute other applications or configure macOS Focus.
No. Clipboard history starts paused and you choose when to enable it. History stays on your Mac. Source-app private markers are excluded, but unmarked sensitive text can still be captured.
No. The Shelf keeps independent copies. Removing or expiring a shelf copy sends that copy to Trash; your original stays in place.
Sales includes connections for Stripe, Shopify, Lemon Squeezy, Gumroad, Dodo Payments, Polar and Paddle. Supply your own credentials and follow the provider’s setup guide. Available data and permissions differ by provider.
Keys you supply for connected services are stored in your Mac’s login Keychain. AI Usage can also read existing local sign-ins for supported coding providers. Credentials are sent only to the relevant provider endpoints.
