Who is responsible

The data controller is Adam Godsall trading as MicroNotch, a sole trader. Correspondence address: SIU Offices, 4 - 6 Greatorex Street, London, E1 5NF. For privacy enquiries, email support@micronotch.app.

The information described as local app data stays under your control on your Mac unless you choose to share it or use a connection that sends it to another service. We do not receive that local data simply because you install the app.

On your Mac

MicroNotch stores its preferences and local productivity data on your Mac. This includes your quick note, local to-dos, tool choices and supported feature history.

Files and clipboard

The Shelf stores independent copies of files you add. MicroNotch does not automatically upload your files or clipboard history. Sharing a file with AirDrop is an action you choose.

Clipboard history starts paused. When enabled, it keeps supported copied items locally. Source-app private markers are excluded, but sensitive content without a private marker may still be captured. You can pause or clear history.

Permissions

Calendar, Reminders, Camera, Microphone, Accessibility and Input Monitoring permissions support specific features. Quick setup explains them individually. The camera preview ends when you leave Mirror.

Voice and AI

MicroVoice

MicroVoice downloads the Phonon-2 model from Hugging Face when you enable it. Transcription runs on your Mac without a cloud transcription service. MicroNotch attempts to remove temporary recordings after transcription.

Each non-empty transcript is copied to the system clipboard, replacing its previous contents, before MicroVoice attempts to paste it into your active app. Clipboard history and the destination app may retain or sync that text under their own settings and terms.

Ask Micro

The direct-distribution build uses the on-device Apple Intelligence model on supported Macs. Apple Intelligence must be enabled.

Code mode

When connected, Code mode reads supported local session records and hook events. Connecting some tools changes their local hook configuration. It stores bounded run history and follow-up drafts locally. Clearing MicroNotch’s completed history does not delete conversations from the source applications.

Sending a follow-up or answering a supported request passes that input to your existing coding tool. That tool’s provider and privacy terms govern its subsequent processing.

Connected services

Features such as weather, currency reference rates, lyrics, AI provider allowances and sales reports use their respective services. They require network access and send the information needed for the request.

Weather uses Open-Meteo and can use a city you choose. Location access is requested when you choose My Location. Music artwork may be retrieved from the player or a matching Apple catalogue result. Stock quotes use the Apple Stocks app’s local cache.

Credentials supplied for sales and keyed AI monitors are stored in your login Keychain. Opening AI Usage can read existing local sign-ins and request usage from supported providers, even when their local sign-in cards are hidden. Hidden API-key provider cards are not queried. Credentials are used only with the relevant provider’s endpoints.

Each third-party service has its own terms and privacy information. The app’s connection and setup screens identify the service you are using.

This website

Launch emails

When you join the launch list, we send your email address to EmailOctopus to manage launch news and occasional product updates. You can unsubscribe using the link in those emails. Some signups require confirmation by email.

Support enquiries

When you use the contact form, we send your name, email address, chosen topic and message through Resend to support@micronotch.app so we can respond. Your enquiry is retained in our email systems for handling and following up your request. Sending a message does not add you to the launch list. Please do not include passwords, API keys or other sensitive information.

Analytics and request protection

Google Analytics is optional. Its script loads only after you accept analytics, including on a later visit while that preference is valid. It helps us understand visits and improve the website. We do not intentionally send your email address or form contents in analytics events. See the cookie details below for how to decline or withdraw consent.

Vercel BotID checks signup and support requests to help protect the form from automated abuse. The website host also processes requests needed to serve the site.

Browser demonstrations

The product tour, timer and dictation example run in your browser. They do not request access to your microphone, files, accounts or clipboard. Demonstration state is not saved as an account or synced to the app.

Cookies and analytics

You can use this website, its demonstrations and its contact and signup forms without accepting analytics. Decline and Accept are available in the notice. Manage preferences lets you choose analytics separately from essential features.

Essential features and your preference

We save your choice in this browser’s local storage under micronotch-cookie-preferences-v1. This record contains the preference version, whether analytics is allowed and the time you made the choice. It is valid for 180 days, after which we ask again. It is used only to remember your privacy choice; it is not a visitor identifier.

Security checks, including Vercel BotID, help protect our forms and remain available regardless of your analytics choice. Our host also processes the requests needed to serve this website.

Optional Google Analytics

We do not load Google Analytics or send it cookieless measurement pings before you accept. After acceptance, Google processes page, device, browser and visit information. The _ga and _ga_* cookies can distinguish visits. We configure these cookies with a maximum lifetime of 180 days without extending that lifetime on each visit. Advertising storage, Google Signals and advertising personalisation are disabled in our website configuration.

Google processes analytics information under its own terms and privacy information, including processing outside the UK. Read how Google uses information from partner sites. Acceptance is your consent to this optional analytics processing.

Change your choice

Use Cookie preferences in the footer at any time. Declining disables further Google Analytics collection in this browser and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies for this site. It does not delete information already sent to Google. Your preference is specific to this browser; clearing browser storage or using another browser may cause the notice to appear again.

If browser storage is unavailable, your choice applies for the current page but may not be remembered on your next visit.

Your choices

Enable only the tools and connections you want. Review app permissions in macOS System Settings, pause clipboard history, remove connected keys in the relevant settings and unsubscribe from launch emails at any time.

You can ask to access, correct or erase personal information we hold about you, restrict its use, object to processing or request a portable copy where those rights apply. You may withdraw consent to marketing without affecting earlier processing. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

To ask about information connected to a launch signup, contact us using the email address you subscribed with. We may need to verify the request before changing a record.
