File shelf in MicroNotch

Put it here. Pick it up later.

Gathering a few files should not mean keeping a Finder window in front of everything. Drop them into the notch and keep copies ready for the next step.

Capture & organise

Small things. Thought through.

A place between tasks

Drop files into the notch and keep the copies close.

Your originals stay put

The shelf holds its own copies, leaving the source files where they are.

Bundle a few together

Make a ZIP when a group of files belongs in one package.

Share with AirDrop

Send files from the shelf using the Mac’s familiar sharing flow.

IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR DAY

A familiar moment. A little help.

A few files, one handover

Collect the document and images you need to send, then make a ZIP from the shelf.

Between two apps

Keep a copy close while you switch to the app where you need the file next.

INSIDE THE NOTCH

How to use it.

  1. Drag files towards the notch and drop them into File shelf.
  2. Open File shelf from All tools to see the copies you have gathered.
  3. Use the shelf’s ZIP or AirDrop actions when you are ready to bundle or share the files.

A familiar way in

Hover over or click the compact notch, use the menu-bar icon, or press Control–Option–Space. Search tools with Control–Option–K. If a shortcut is already taken, check the active shortcut in Settings.

Pin a favourite from All tools for quicker access. More about opening the notch

When the notch closes

Closing the notch does not move your original files. Reopen File shelf to return to the copies you have kept there.
